Reset your password and sign in with Google

Not verified live: this guide has not been followed end to end against the live provider.

You get back into your Yedran account by requesting a reset link by email, or by using Google when the sign-up page offers it.

Who: every person with a Yedran account, whatever their role. Permission: none.

Before you start

  • Have access to the mailbox of the email address on your account. The reset link goes only there.
  • For Google, have the Google account whose address matches your Yedran account, or the address you want to sign up with.
  • Choose a password with at least 12 characters, including an upper case letter, a lower case letter, a digit and a symbol.

Steps

To reset a forgotten password:

  1. On the sign-in page, select Forgot your password?, next to the Password field. The Reset your password page opens.
  2. In Email, type the address of your account, then select Send reset link. The page shows a confirmation that a link is on its way and that it expires in 30 minutes.
  3. Open the email and select its link. The Choose a new password page opens. If you see This reset link is invalid or has expired. Request a new one., return to step 1.
  4. In New password, type your password. In Confirm new password, type it again. If the two differ, the page shows The two passwords do not match.
  5. Select Set new password. The page confirms that your password is updated. Select Back to sign in and sign in with it, because Yedran does not sign you in for you.

To use Google, when the sign-up page shows a Google button:

  1. On the sign-in page, select Create an account. The Create your Yedran account page opens.
  2. Select the Google button drawn by Google at the top of the form, and choose your Google account in the Google window. If you don’t see a Google button, your deployment has not set up Google, and you use a password instead.
  3. If no active Yedran account uses that address, Yedran creates your organisation and opens the setup wizard. In Your details, the wizard asks you to choose a password, so you can also sign in without Google.
  4. If one active account without two-step verification uses that address, Yedran signs you in to it.
  5. If the page shows This address already has an account. Sign in with your password., go back to the sign-in page and sign in with your password. Use Forgot your password? if you do not remember it.

Result

To check a reset, sign in with your reset password. Every session you had open on other devices is signed out when the password changes, so sign in again there.

To check Google, confirm that the console opens on your organisation after you choose your Google account.

Limits

  • The reset page gives the same confirmation whether or not the address belongs to an account. The page never tells you that an address is unknown, and no email arrives for an address with no account.
  • A reset link works once and expires after 30 minutes. A link sent before your last password change does not work.
  • Yedran sends at most three reset links an hour for one account. A request past that limit shows the same confirmation and sends no email.
  • A deactivated account receives no reset link. Ask an owner or admin to reactivate it.
  • An account that signs in only with Microsoft, shown as Sign in with Microsoft on the sign-in page, receives no reset link, because that account has no Yedran password.
  • The password you set must differ from your current one and meet the composition rules in the Before you start section.
  • The sign-in page has no Google button. Google works from the sign-up page only.
  • Google does not replace two-step verification. An account that has it, or an address that belongs to several organisations, must sign in with its password.
